...show yourself a man...

When David’s time to die drew near, he commanded Solomon his son, saying, “I am about to go the way of all the earth. Be strong, and show yourself a man, and keep the charge of the Lord your God, walking in his ways and keeping his statutes, his commandments, his rules, and his testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn, that the Lord may establish his word that he spoke concerning me, saying, ‘If your sons pay close attention to their way, to walk before me in faithfulness with all their heart and with all their soul, you shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.’ (1 Kings 2:1-4 ESV)

We have a Father that loves us so much that He came and took the world's attacks and distractions and made them silent with His sacrifice. His sacrifice gave, gives, and will keep giving us the Freedom to be ALL He created us to be. So, 'lets show ourselves as men' and trust the One who gives us the freedom to be men. We come to The Norwich/the gym and do physically crazy stuff. That expression is a reality in what we can do Spuritually. Lets reflect our God who creates us to have the ability to do Spiritually crazy stuff...trust Him. Pretty awesome, isn't it?

David's Charge...

If you have read the intro to this blog, then you have read through the description of how our body, mind and spirit made up. We are made up of physical bodies, mental/emotional bodies and spiritual bodies. How these 3 interact together and overlap one another determines our awareness. As it has been said, the physical manifestations that we experience and endure lead directly to reality in our lives. Mostly, we find the physical leads to spiritual reality.

I think that it is very important and significant to focus on this topic. Since, we are created this way it is possible to begin to see the intersection between all 3. The root for all is in the spiritual body and this is about going after what it has for us.

If you train with thedawgsquad then you know that we do things in a process, a progression. So, we are going to track with that progression some scripture to think about and discuss.  We are currently in week 8 of the progression, so for the rest of week 8 and week 9 we will be looking at 1Kings 2:2-4, David's charge on his successor and son Solomon.  God speaks to us in different ways. Let's try to hear his voice as we read to understand a good King giving a charge to his heir in hopes, the hope that comes from God, that he will carryon the name well.

Looking forward to hearing comments about how God spoke to all of us through this passage.

Please, if you have any comments about the passage please comment on this blog.
